Gwendolyn was a costume that I had started in 2016, and put down because I didn’t have the skills to complete it. Fast forward to 2023 and my friends wanted to cosplay it together, so I started over on the project. There wasn’t anything I could really save from 2016, but it gave me the right idea of how to tackle this project.
This probably has the most mixed media when it comes to pieces; with sewn and armor pieces. I had to rig a small harness around my waist to make sure the wings stay up. The base of the wings used a plastic toy shield to make the shape and keep that curved look.
All of the armor pieces were done in foam to keep it light and easy to wear. All the pieces were hand painted and sealed.
The bodice was constructed with a corset base, so I could create a nice shape as well as keep it secure on my body.
